De Smet Community Scholarships  Applications will be distributed to all seniors.  All students who complete the application and interview process will receive an award.

  • American Bank and Trust is awarding eight $500 scholarships to graduating seniors in local communities. Applications and more information are available here.

  • Lyle Signs, Inc. is once again proud to make available four $500 scholarships to aid Kingsbury area student in post-secondary education.

  • Bowes Nursing Scholarship of $1000 will be given to a graduating senior intending to major in nursing.  Applications will be made by completing the De Smet Community Scholarship farm.

  • Weerstra - Krick Ag. Scholarship of $1000 will be given to a graduating senior intending to major in agriculture.  Applications will be made by completing the De Smet Community Scholarship farm.

  • Dairy Queen/Subway Scholarship is offering a scholarship to any high school graduate who has worked 12 consecutive months (or more) at Dairy Queen or Subway. During school year employee must work with managers to help fill in the schedule. He/she must be continuing their education at an approved college or vocational school and must continue to work at Subway/Dairy Queen to within ten days of leaving for school.   • Farmers & Merchants State Bank of Carthage scholarship is worth $500. Applicants must attend a South Dakota college, university, vocational school or community college. Your application will be evaluated in the following areas; academic, activities, and character.
     

  • Kingsbury Electric Cooperative, Inc.   Basin Electric Power Cooperative is offering $1000 college scholarships to more than 160 students in the eight-state region served by its members.  Each of the 127 member cooperatives of Basin Electric, including Kingsbury Electric Cooperative, Inc., will be awarded a scholarship to a dependent of a consumer.  In addition, 20 scholarships will be awarded to dependants of member-system employees.  Applicants for the scholarships must be U.S. citizens and dependant children of consumers residing on Kingsbury Electric Cooperative lines.  Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on a combination of SAT/ACT scores and overall grade-point average, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a personal statement of career goals, financial need, and a written recommendation by a third party.  The runner up will be eligible to participate in the Rural Electric Youth Tour.
     

  • National Honor Society Scholarship Voted on by Honor Society members in May.  No application is used.  Seniors must be a member of National Honor Society. 
     

  • Student Council Scholarship  Voted on by Student Council members.  Applications distributed by the principal in April.  Students must be in top third of their class.
     

  • De Smet Community Women Scholarship  Applications will be available from counselor's office in April.
     

  • PEO Scholarship  No application used.  In May scholarship award is determined by members based on school and community involvement.  Minimum GPA of 3.0 necessary.
     

  • Minnesota-Dakotas District of Kiwanis offers one-time scholarship of at least $1000 each to high school seniors in each of the three state Kiwanis District.  A maximum of 3 students in your school may apply.  Applicants must be legal residents of Minnesota, North Dakota, or South Dakota and must be a graduating senior from a 4 yr. high school.  Awards are based on scholastic ability, need and seriousness of purpose.  Local application must be turned into counselor.
     

  • The Kingsbury County Cattlemen's Association $250 scholarship has been established with funds from projects held by the organization. The applicant must be a son or daughter of a current ,active or associate member or paid advertiser of the KCCA. The scholarship will be awarded to South Dakota high school seniors entering a school of higher education the following academic year and/or students currently attending a school of higher education. A copy of your most recent transcript must accompany your application returned to KCCA. The $250 can be used at any accredited university, 2- year or 4-year college or technical school in South Dakota. The scholarship will be paid for the second semester upon proof of 2.5 grade point average.
     

  • De Smet American Legion Scholarships  Sons and daughters of De Smet Legion members or actual members are awarded without application.
     

  • De Smet American Legion (Auxiliary) Scholarships Sons and daughters of De Smet Legion ( Auxiliary) members or actual members are awarded without application.
     

  • De Smet Teachers Organization Scholarship A prospective teacher scholarship will once again be available to De Smet High School graduates who are an education major within two years of college/university graduation.
    The De Smet Teacher's Organization provides the scholarship. Application is due to Mr. LaFave.
    Primary criterion used to select the recipient will include written expression and interest in a professional education career as demonstrated by response to the application essay questions.

 

  • Grace Wellman Educator Scholarship will be available to a De Smet High School graduate who is an education major within one year of college/university graduation.  Applications are due to Mr. LaFave.
